Founded in 1997 by Adriano Shaplin, Stephanie Viola, and Drew Friedman, the Riot Group have created five original works which have been performed throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Each production is collaboratively directed and designed by the Riot Group. All texts are written by Adriano Shaplin, with roles uniquely tailored to each performer. A whole range of self-imposed restrictions and stylistic fanaticisms govern the creation of each production, and these 'choices' are reenforced by, and deeply embedded within, each text.

The Riot Group is dedicated to the craft of ensemble theater-making and to generating powerful new writing for the stage.
