The Riot Group is a small ensemble of theater artists creating new dramatic work for the stage. In the past ten years Riot Group have created eight original performances, including five new plays by artistic director Adriano Shaplin composed for members of the ensemble. Riot Group have performed off-Broadway, off-West End, and at numerous international venues including Riverside Studios, Walker Arts Center, Culture Project @ 45 Bleeker, and Theatre Der Welt. The company are veterans of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they previously received four Scotsman Fringe Firsts. Plays written by Adriano Shaplin for the Riot Group have been translated and performed in ten countries and published in four languages. The Riot Group group ensemble includes Adriano Shaplin, Stephanie Viola, Drew Friedman, Paul Schnabel and Maria Shaplin. Riot Group have collaborated with members of Collapsable Giraffe, Pig Iron Theater Company, Chantal Arts, Soho Theatre London, SHUNT, Arches Theatre Company, Rotozaza, and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Riot Group is a federally recognized not-for-profit in the United States of America.
